CaptionYA73043-D. An artificial reef completely overgrown with colorful marine life in the temperate waters of central Japan. This dive site near the town of Futo on the Izu Peninsula west of Tokyo is a collection of dozens of large open concrete blocks to which colorful sea fans soft corals sponges and algaes are attached in abundance. Fish crustaceans nudibranchs and other marine life benefit from the structure on what is otherwise an open sandy bottom and now make the man-made reef their home. Japan Pacific Ocean.
